I had a chance to fish Eastern Tennessee with a group from International Angler last week.
This time of the year, the water cools and the brown trout begin their spawning run. Rainbows follow the browns for a potential high protein feast.
Fluctuating water levels due to power generation made conditions challenging, but everyone was still able to catch their fair share. Thanks to the guides who followed the release schedules, and planned the selection of rivers and the best sections to minimize the difficulty.
Weather – Mornings 30’s, Afternoons 50’s – layer up well
Technique – Drift boat nymph fishing, some dry fly
Flies – egg imitation, worm imitation, perdigon nymphs, zebra midge, sweet thaing, rainbow warrior, Frenchy. Dries – PMD
Guide – Andrew Bright
Best fish – 25″ brown trout – took an orange egg pattern
Tight lines,
