Oak Island Public Boat Ramp
55th Street NE at East Yacht Drive (next to the condos on East Yacht Drive)
This has two ramps and is open all day and night at high and low tides. Very close to the ICW and Beaverdam Creek is across the ICW from it. Have made some improvements for parking. No sticker should be needed.
Oak Island Public Boat Ramp
57th Place West at West Beach Road (next to what was Blue Water Point Marina)
This access is open all day and night at high and low tides. Close to the ICW, Lockwood Folly River, Sheep’s Island, and the Lockwood Folly Inlet as well as Davis’ Creek. Bet your need a parking sticker to park there.
Public Floating Dock
SE 31st Street off E. Oak Island Drive (just down from the Recreation Center at 3003 E. Oak Island Drive)
This is a floating dock with a crossover. Accessible at all but dead low tide. It is on the Big Davis Canal but provides access to Montgomery Slough (the creek behind the beach), the full length of the Big Davis Canal, and the ICW.
Public Floating Dock
SE 19th Street (off E. Oak Island Drive)
This is a floating dock with a crossover, as well. Best access is at higher tides but can be used at low tide. On the Big Davis Canal, providing access to Montgomery Slough, the rest of the Canal, and the ICW.
Public Floating Dock
SE 9th Street (off E. Oak Island Drive)
This is a floating dock with a crossover, too. Accessible at low or high tides. On the Big Davis Canal, providing access to Montgomery Slough, the rest of the Canal, and the ICW.
Kayak Launching Ramp
39th Place West (off of W. Beach Road)
This ramp is unimproved but works well for larger kayaks on trailers. Low tide can be muddy. On Davis’ Creek/Montgomery Slough, it provides access to the entire creek behind the beach and with some paddling to Blue Water Point, Lockwood Folly River and Inlet, and the ICW. Likely need a parking sticker.
Other Area Ramps

End of the road in Varnamtown, between Garland’s Seafood (Honey’s) and High Rider. Parking is $5 at Honey’s but there is a no charge lot 100 yards up the road. Turn left onto Sunset Harbor Road at the first traffic light after crossing the bridge over Lockwood Folly River. It is the first road to the left after crossing the NC 211 bridge as one approaches Supply,NC. Follow signs to Varnamtown.
Sunset Harbor Wildlife Ramp
End of the Road to Sunset Harbor. Turn left onto Sunset Harbor Road from NC 211at a traffic light. There is a major sand bar close to the ramp so the various buoys are not simply for decoration.
