A fly‑fishing casting clinic will be held on April 11, 2026 at The Park on Fish Factory Road, located between the Wildlife Ramp and South Harbor. The site has plenty of open grass for casting practice, access to water, and a public restroom.

No prior experience or equipment is needed. If you already own a fly rod, bring it along. Otherwise, you’re welcome to use ours. We’ll have rods ranging from 4‑weight to 9‑weight available for you to try. Whether you want to learn the fundamentals of fly casting or tune up your technique for the rest of Spring and the upcoming Summer season, we’ll have instructors ready to help beginners and experienced casters alike. If you’re considering new gear or troubleshooting a casting issue, we can work through that with you as well.

The clinic is free of charge. Please bring your own water or soft drinks to stay hydrated.

If you’re coming from St. James, Southport, Winding River, or Boiling Spring Lakes, turn from NC‑211 onto Long Beach Road. At the traffic light by Clem’s Seafood, turn left onto Fish Factory Road. Continue past the boat ramp and turn left into the park’s parking lot.
