More information to follow – here is what we did in earlier years.

So, I do not want to start an argument, but many well-traveled anglers consider the South Holston and Watauga Rivers in east Tennessee to be among the best you can find, especially the east of the Mississippi River.

Both are the result of dams built decades ago for flood control and energy production. Overlooked was the fact that since water is discharged from the bottom of the dam, the discharged water is very cool, and trout demand cool water.

These rivers are not good for wading—they are drift boats all the way. But there are streams for wading in the area. You do not need to hire a guide to go on the trip.

Now You Are Legal and Can Look Forward to the Trip

If you are new to fly fishing, we can get you up to speed well enough to catch a batch of fish.  The guides always have rods we can use, and they provide the flies, leaders, and tippets, as well as tying the flies on, undoing the snarls, and making sure our leader/tippet is good.  If you are new to the club, the single best thing you can do to enhance your enjoyment of the sport is to go on a trip.  You will catch some fish, get hooked by the sport, and get some good help on casting from the guides.  Plus, you get to eat, drink, and fish with fellow Club members!  What more do you need?
