President Al Roy presented a lively and informative lecture entitled Steelhead on the Fly covering his experiences on Steelhead fishing on several venues, as well as recommendations. Steelhead or occasionally steelhead trout is the anadromous form of the coastal rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss irideus).  Steelhead spawn in freshwater, smolts migrate to the ocean for several years, and adults return to their natal streams to spawn. There, they forage chiefly on salmon eggs and dead Salmon. They are generally found in deeper, colder water (40-50 °F), whether in the Pacific NW or in streams/rivers leading into the Great Lakes.
