Fellow CFF member, Joe Rinaldi, presented a recent trip (late February 2026) to Patagonia- staying at the Limay River Lodge for six days. Members joining him were: Paul Askew, Ken Devansky, Myles Dotto, Tom Duym, Ron Harris, and Rick Winterhalter.  Also on the trip were a former member and club treasurer, Tony Mangiapane, plus four others – 2 from Southport, 1 from Leland, and his friend from CT.

They targeted fly fishing for browns and also rainbows in the Lemay River for 6 days.  Patagonia is a region encompassing the vast southernmost tip of South America, shared by Argentina and Chile, with the Andes Mountains as its dividing line.  It covers 400,000 square miles.  They experienced catching 10 pound brown trout, 29” long!  These fish were not native to this area but eggs were brought in by Europeans who settled in the area.  Many of the residents are of European descent.
